Fig and Wasp

Did you know that Figs are pollinated by wasp mothers*? They bury inside, lay their eggs and then stay trapped inside. Digested by the Fig, while her babies burrow tunnels to find a way out.

The males die creating the tunnels, but the females escape and go on to repeat the cycle, pollinating figs as they go.
